About Me
Samantha Gibbs - Sleep ConsultantHi, my name is Samantha Gibbs. I'm a certified pediatric sleep consultant. I have over 20 years of experience working with children and families. I truly enjoy assisting others on their journey to a restful night's sleep because I have experienced how challenging it can be to struggle with this issue. As a wife and mother of two daughters, ages 12 and 8, my passion and expertise for sleep allows me to give you the tools needed to create healthy sleep habits for your child while incorporating your parenting style.
With my first daughter, I was one of those moms who was terribly sleep-deprived and tried anything to get my daughter to sleep. Sometimes it would take hours to get her to go to sleep, and by the end, I was exhausted, we were both frustrated, and neither of us got a quality sleep. I'll never forget the very beginning when my daughter had her days and nights mixed, and I would be up with her from 1 am until 7 am every night for two weeks straight. It felt like the longest two weeks ever! |
At that time, I ended up reading some books and started teaching my daughter healthy sleep habits. Then, once she was old enough, I began sleep training with her, which ultimately changed our lives. When my second daughter was born, I used the skills that I learned with my first daughter. Both of my children are now well beyond their baby phases, and I feel compelled to share my skills with others in need. I've always enjoyed working with families and their children, so I decided to become a certified pediatric sleep consultant with the Family Sleep Institute.
Most people think it is best to address a child's sleep issues when they are babies or toddlers. However, sleep issues can last for years and even into adulthood. A couple of years ago, my older daughter started to have issues with her sleep at the age of 7. It started to impact her mentally, and we could see a drastic shift in her personality to the point that she started suffering from depression. There were a few other factors that triggered this, but a huge one was her sleep. To this day, I know how her sleep impacts her life, and it is something we aren't willing to sacrifice for her well-being.
I can relate to all of those tired parents out there who need some guidance and want nothing more than a little restful sleep. I truly enjoy helping families and look forward to sharing the skills, tips and knowledge that made my journey easier with other families who may need a little help…and a lot of sleep!
